"Todo o imaginário lírico da banda gira em torno dos fronteiriços mexicanos e americanos, mas nem os próprios não estão muito convencidos disso. Mas, também, pouco importa, pois o que verdadeiramente interessa aqui é que a sua música é fresca, cheia de adrenalina e com muita energia para espalhar.
Face ao álbum anterior, nota-se um aprimorar da matéria dada. Se o primeiro trabalho já continha toda a energia e loucura típica da banda, este Shrimp Waterfall oferece uma maior diversidade musical, explorando novas sonoridades, e até novos idiomas. O grande feito aqui foi que conseguiram manter o ar selvagem e delirante de Cataplana América adicionando uns ingredientes melódicos e orelhudos que encaixam maravilhosamente bem. O garage punk-rock ainda está lá, e bem, mas com ele estão também outras variantes que vêm aprimorar o trabalho da banda, com um leque de géneros e referências mais variado.
Inglês, italiano, francês ou português do Brasil: a verdade é que este quinteto explosivo é capaz de colocar a malta toda a abanar o esqueleto seja em que língua for, e isso é um enorme feito. Além disso, fiquei ainda com mais saudades de os ver ao vivo, pois é sempre uma experiência selvagem e na qual não sabemos se vamos acabar o concerto descalços ou a ser banhados por cerveja alheia. "Depois de Cataplana América ter vincado bem a essência destes 5 comparsas do Barreiro, mostrando que o caos enérgico e energizante, a destruição e a folia em ebulição seriam algo que nos prendia de imediato, Shrimp Waterfall mantém essa essência bordando-a de um modo mais requintado, controverso e ainda mais tropical. Não só temos um cocktail de cores, sabores e sonoridades como temos uma mistura tropical intensa, variada, agridoce, quente e fria, brilhante, glamourosa e até brega. A temática retratada é uma aposta vincada em temas como a ilusão, injustiça, opressão, violência, liberdade ou falta dela, falsidade, política, crime, máfia, rebanhos, corrupção, medos. malaguetas e até voodoo. Tudo isto embrulhado em camadas de garage eufórico, punk limado e muita loucura sã. Segundo os Castros, a sua música define-se como “garage-punk-rock maníaco e febril” e, como tal, é impossível resistir a ela. Cheiram-se influências dos finais dos anos 70, inícios de 80 numa linha meio The Scientists, meio The Fuzztones passando por Johnny Thunders e até uns the Kinks sem esquecer os grandes The Cramps ou ainda uma brisa de Stooges entre centenas de bandas garage e punk do antigamente que nos fizeram aquilo que somos hoje.
